Do you enjoy fresh, locally grown food? Then you will love the Rutland County Farmer’s Market. It is the oldest farmers market in the state and one of the only markets that strictly sells products that are grown or made directly by them.  The market is located only about a 30 min. drive away from us!

The Market is open from May until November at Depot Park in Downtown Rutland. However, make sure to note that the market is only open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., so plan accordingly. (For more information email info@rcfmvt.org)

The really unique quality about the Rutland County Farmer’s Market is that they possess 3 mission statements. The first mission statement is to promote local agriculture and local artisans. The second is to provide the consumer with the assurance of quality we have grown to expect in Vermont produce, baked goods and crafts. The third and final mission statement of the Rutland County Farmers Market is to provide a festive market place, adding color and diversity to the city of Rutland, benefiting local merchants and townspeople. 1. Agriculture

Agriculture is obviously the number one focus at the Rutland County Farmer’s Market. The market features various agricultural vendors that offer high quality vegetables and fruits that are in season. The also sell fresh eggs, cheese, honey, Vermont’s famous maple syrup, hers, annuals, perennials, cut flowers and more. The market has particularly high standards for all of their vendors, so expect the freshest and highest quality of produce when shopping at the Rutland County Farmer’s Market. 2. Baked Goods

In addition to selling all types of agricultural products, the Rutland County Farmers Market also offers a wide selection of baked goods. Local bakers provide delicious, oven fresh breads, rolls, cookies, pies and many other sweet treats that would definitely satisfy the biggest sweet tooth. You won’t want to miss out on these local and made from scratch goodies.

3. Food Vendors

In addition to all of these fresh food options, the Rutland County Farmers Market also features many local food vendors. The vendors bring a wide variety of local, home-made specialty foods including sauces, jams, jellies and pickled veggies. There is really no comparison between store bought grape jam and one of the market’s local vendor’s sweet homemade peach preserves.

4. Arts and Crafts

On an unrelated note, The Rutland County Farmers Market also showcases talented local artists and crafts people. The market is a place for them to present and sell their one-of-a-kind jewelry, woodcrafts, painting and pottery. The market features more than 10 different local artisans who create everything from baseball hats to decorative glass.
