Outside Your Vermont Pet-Friendly Lodgings The Great Outdoors

While downhill skiing might be out of the question, there are plenty of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails that are dog-friendly. One of the best is the Mountain Top Inn and Resort, a short 11 mile drive from Killington. This resort offers over 15km of pet-friendly trails for you and Fido, meaning the entire family can enjoy their idyllic 700 acres of woods on the slopes of the Green Mountains. The trails offer fantastic views of the surrounding peaks as well as the private and pristine alpine lake.

The year-round hiking trails at the Dead Creek Wildlife Management Area are also open to four-legged visitors on leashes. Explore over 2800 acres of old growth forests, marshes, and stately stands of pine tree while watching the numerous species of migratory and native birds that call the park home. Snow geese are seen through the late fall, while short-eared owls can be spotted through the winter. In the spring and summer months shorebirds and wader species can be seen along the banks of the numerous creeks and ponds.

Hound-Friendly Hikes
