Skiing & Snowboarding

Pico Mountain Ski Area was one of the first commercial ski resorts in the state. It’s located on the northwest side of Pico Peak and features 57 trails, seven lifts, and a 1,967-foot vertical drop. Experienced skiers and snowboarders will love the black and double black diamond trails, and first-timers can hone their skills on gentle learning slopes. There’s also a number of green and blue routes for guests of all levels. Be sure to view a trail map before heading out.

With its cozy lodge and stone fireplaces, Pico’s central base area is a great place to rest and recharge. You’ll find a variety of culinary options including homemade waffles, sandwiches, kid-friendly meals and more. There’s also lunch and après entertainment on weekends. It’s the perfect place to wrap up a day of skiing in Vermont!

Hiking

Did you know that Pico Peak is on the New England Hundred Highest hiking list? There are two main trails that reach the summit: Sherburne Pass Trail and the Long Trail. Both trails lead to Pico Camp, which is a great place to stop and rest for lunch. The summit is just 0.4 miles from the camp. Be sure to bring your camera – the surrounding scenery is spectacular during every season!

Summer Activities

Each year when the weather gets warmer, Pico Mountain changes from a snow mecca to a summer playspace. The Pico Mountain Adventure Center offers non-stop family fun with guided horseback rides, mini golf, rock climbing, and more. Take a scenic chairlift ride to the top of Little Pico, then enjoy an exhilarating ride down the Alpine Slide. Or, head over to Power Jump where kids and adults can bounce, flip, and fly through the air. There’s even an 18-hole disc golf course that winds down Pico Mountain! The Center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from late June through early September.

History of the Lookout Tavern

Owners Phil and Joy Black opened the restaurant back in 2000. Today, it’s charm is infectious. The Lookout Tavern is alive with energy in the winter, when countless skiers and snowboarders swarm the sports bar to warm up après ski. It’s also a great place to relax in the summer after a hike in the mountains or a round of golf at Killington Golf Course. The local staff returns year after year and is happy to serve both old faces and new.

Delicious Eats

The menu at the Lookout Tavern is filled with classic Killington favorites. They even have options for kids. Choose from a variety of appetizers including veggie spring rolls, sweet potato fries, and, of course, their famous hot wings. Or dig into a warm bowl of soup and a crisp, fresh salad. The Lookout also offers burgers, sandwiches, and a number of hearty entrees. Wash it all down with a beer or glass of wine and you’re ready to head out to the mountain again!

Exceptional Service

Because the restaurant tends to be crowded in the winter months, we suggest taking advantage of their call-ahead seating, takeout, and delivery options. Or, simply wait for your table in the game room where you’ll find a pool table, pinball, and video games. The bar even has eight HD TVs for your sports enjoyment. If visiting in the summer, venture up to the rooftop deck and take in stunning views of Killington Mountain and the valley.

Take an afternoon and set out on an adventure the entire family is sure to enjoy. The trail, which is 5.7-miles total, reaches a height of 4,241 feet in elevation! 2. Golfing

The weather in Vermont during the summer is ideal for golfing. Head to the beautiful Killington for some of the best golf in the state! The Killington Resort golf course is open to the public and features a breathtaking 18-hole course. The course, designed by Geoffrey Cornish, is great for any golfer! Take in the unique mountain terrain as you play a couple a rounds with your friends! Adults cost $50 Monday through Friday and $65 Saturday and Sunday for 18-holes. Adults cost $30 Monday through Friday and $40 Saturday and Sunday for 9-holes!

3. Adventure Center

There is truly something for everyone to do in Killington Vermont. The Adventure Center offers several thrilling things to try, from the Skye Rope Course to disc golf. One of the top things to do at the Adventure Center is the Beast Mountain Coaster! This 4,800-foot-long alpine mountain coaster will take you on a whirlwind of a journey. Twist and turn through the woods with the 360-degree corkscrews! Guests can purchase a 1-ride card, 4-ride card, or a 6-ride card! During the summer, guests can stay cool at Snowshed Pond. The Adventure Center offers Stand-Up Paddle Boarding and kayaking rentals during the summer. If being on the water doesn’t float your boat, head to the Skyes Ropes Course and bring out your inner climber! This is a must do when visiting the area!
