If you’re an amateur skier who wants a challenge and a lot of fun things to do in Vermont, check out the Nor’Beaster Bud Light Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge at Killington Ski Resort. During this one-day competition in April, the top 32 men and 16 women compete in a head-to-head competition for the Mogul Challenge cup.
Sign Up for this Vermont Event
Registration is open to skiers only and can only take up to 150 participants. It costs $50. There are five age divisions, starting as young as 13 years old. This is an amateur competition, however, so USSA members who are 12 years or older as of Jan. 1, 2018 and have registered as competitors in the past five years can’t race. You can learn more about judging criteria on the competition website.
Training
If you really want to get serious about the challenge, consider signing up for the Donna Weinbrecht Mogul Camp. Camps take place twice a year in January and February and are designed to prepare you for the Bear Mountain Challenge.
What You’ll Pay For
Registration for this Vermont event doesn’t include a lift ticket, though competitors qualify for discounted lift tickets. Awards are given to the first, second, third and fourth place overall male and female winners. These winners’ names will be engraved on the Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge trophy.
Tailgate
The Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge keeps things light and fun. Every year you’ll find competitors, friends and family tailgating right on the snow at the base of the slopes. Bring your friends, your beer and your skis for a good time with plenty of fun things to do in Vermont.
