Vermont Snowboarding For a Good Cause
For the 10-year anniversary of the Stash terrain park, Killington is hosting the Slash and Berm Banked Slalom to benefit Burton’s Chill Foundation. Working with social service agencies, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools, the Chill Foundation selects youth to participate in six-session snowboarding lessons. The foundation hopes to teach youth about respect, courage, patience, persistence, responsibility and pride.
The Stash
The Stash is located at Killington Ski Resort on Bear Mountain, which is on the west side of the mountain. It’s accessed by the Skye Peak Express Quad and Superstar Express Quad lifts. The Stash features more than 65 medium and large features, including log rails, wall rides and other natural snowboarding in Vermont features that weave on and off trail.
Schedule
The Slash and Berm is a three-day Vermont snowboarding event in March. Friday is the first day and is an invite-only banked slalom event. The open division race Saturday is open to all snowboarders and is timed individually. Participants must be 13 years or older to enter the open division. On Sunday, the youth Grom event takes place at the Lil’ Stash at Ramshead. Youth as young as 9 years old can participate in the Grom. For the open division, entry costs $60 including lunch and a lift ticket. Killington season pass holders can get in for $40, but that doesn’t include the lift ticket.
