Our portfolio of Killington spring properties boasts a wide range of accommodations, ranging from spacious homes that will fit the entire family, from cozy condos practically made for a weekend escape from the city. Stay in one of our fabulous “Ski On, Ski Off” rentals if you’re still visiting during the ski season, or bask in the perks of staying mountainside as the weather warms up—incredible views, as well as access to hiking and mountain biking.
Traveling during the spring season always offers a sense of adventure as you can never be quite sure what awaits you. Whether it’s snow-packed mountain adventures you seek, a quiet day exploring town, the hot sun warming your shoulders as you hike through patches of snow, or a slow start to the day with a good book under the warm covers, our Killington rentals are all centrally located so you can have an amazing experience no matter what Mother Nature delivers.
Choose to stay at a condo in town, where the streets are lined with new spring flowers and the bustle of longer days is inviting you to join in the festivities. Staying at a condo at one of the local resorts is always an option as well, keeping you close to the mountain slopes for adventures while enjoying all the perks (pools, gyms, and restaurants) these resorts have to offer. Or perhaps a private home tucked into the pine forest is the experience you’re craving, where it doesn’t matter if it snows, rains, or the sun is shining because it all feels like it came straight out of a storybook.
All of our rentals come standard with amenities such as fully-equipped kitchens, towels and linens, and televisions, while others have specific perks such as hot tubs and fireplaces—a great choice for spring as the weather can still get chilly enough to take a soak or cuddle around the flames! Spring is a special time to enjoy culinary adventures and with a full kitchen at your disposal, you’ll have no problem whipping up whatever your heart desires. If it’s early spring and you’ve spent the day playing in the snow, heating up a warm pot of stew with an apple pie the oven has never been easier. Should you choose to visit later in the spring, no doubt Killington’s Farmer’s Market will be in full swing. Bring your favorite canvas bag and your appetite because before you know it, you’ll be sampling a variety of Vermont’s finest produce. Choose your favorite “nature’s candy” and bring it back to your rental to prepare a seasonal delight. Perhaps it’s a fresh salad using mixed greens and herbs? A cheese platter with fresh strawberries and green peas accompanied by a local wine? Or a rhubarb cake baked with love by a local vendor? Whatever you choose to dine on, it will taste even more magical sitting at your private dining space, watching the flowers bloom on the mountains that surround you.
Killington’s winter terrain is unmatched for seasonal based sports, and the summer atmosphere is gorgeous for exploring the lush mountains. If you visit during the spring months, you’re likely to have the opportunity to experience a little bit of both. During March, you can still count on accessing the trails at either Killington Ski Resort or Pico Mountain, with limited trails at Killington Ski Resort staying open sometimes as late as May.
Down at the base of the mountain in the Killington spring, you’ll find temperatures are comfortable enough to explore the adorable shops in town and can enjoy access to hiking trails depending on the amount of snowfall, which will be less as we move through the spring season and approach summer. A popular hiking option during this season is Thundering Brook Falls, an incredibly easy and handicap accessible trail that leads you to the sixth largest waterfall in Vermont! This is an ideal time of year to visit, as the water levels are at their highest, creating a truly magnificent sight as the roaring water spills over the rocks. And good news, some of our rentals are within walking distance of this famed trail, and many of our rentals will put you in an ideal location for outdoor activities and living it up in town.
Where else can you ski on the mountain, then head down the hill for a kayak adventure? With rental companies willing to deliver all of your needed gear to the water, you’ll be ready to soak up the rays of spring sunshine on the clear water of Kent Pond without the hassle of worrying how you’ll trade your winter gear for summer gear. Truly spring travel to Killington is an opportunity to enjoy all the seasons. Even if kayaks or paddle boards aren’t your thing (or it’s too early in the season to rent them), you can take advantage of the spring weather and pack a picnic to enjoy by the water. If you’re lucky, the snowy mountains will offer a perfect backdrop to the budding trees and nesting bald eagles that are often spotted in this area.
Killington is a small town of just 800 residents, but they thrive on absorbing everything this Vermont community has to offer while sharing it with their visitors year-round. Vacationing in the spring means you won’t have to contend with the crowds you’ll normally find during the fall and winter months. Enjoy the slower pace this season has to offer and stop to smell the flowers. Really, because the flora will be budding, and the daffodils will command a smile as you pass by.
