Every vacationer needs to treat themselves to a little fine dining when they visit Killington. One of our favorite fine dining restaurants in the area is Countryman’s Pleasure. This local favorite features fine continental cuisine, including a spotlight of the many flavors of Europe. Foodies flock to the Countryman’s Pleasure for the combination of Old World ambiance and a relaxing yet delicious meal. Chef Robert Chalmers focuses on popular Bavarian dishes along with other Austrian and German meals. Take a look at what a meal at Countryman’s Pleasure will look like:
Countryman’s Pleasure Dinner Menu
The menu may not be huge at Countryman’s Pleasure but it more than makes up for it with the incredible flavor of each entrée. Patrons can enjoy a variety of starters including potato pancakes, dumplings, house-made pretzels, and lump crab cakes. Traditional entrees get their inspiration from Eastern Europe and include chicken cordon bleu, sauerbraten, veal schnitzel Holstein, and more. Chef-inspired dishes also include the classic sirloin steak cooked to order and roasted vegetable spaetzli. Even if you have not tried Bavarian food before, you will find something on the menu to love.
If you are looking for a casual meal, grab a seat in the tavern, and enjoy various comfort foods available at Countryman’s Pleasure. Sharable plates are perfect to split with friends and include burgers, bratwursts, and corn and crab chowder. Various salads help save on the calories but still offer plenty of flavor. The desserts are out of this world, featuring fan favorites such as strudel, crème brulee, carrot cake, and much more. Delicious food will be all around you! Make sure to pair off your meal with a delicious adult beverage made in house. Available cocktails include the Countryman’s Martini, the Moscow Mule, spiked coffee, and more. Austrian house wines are also available bringing the Bavarian flavor to your favorite vintages.

Why Stop at One?
With so much variety when it comes to the booming culinary scene present within Killington, why not explore them all? Some of our favorites include Sunup Bakery for the perfect morning pick-me-up your brain and body demand when sun starts shining; trust us, you can’t go wrong the gourmet coffee and exceptional pastries. The Lookout Tavern is another favorite with a local vibe that can’t be beat and a menu full of comfort foods that actually warms your soul. On another night, we highly recommend you head to Cru for an exceptional ambiance that will undoubtably enhance the wine list and locally sourced American cuisine, providing you with a dining experience you won’t soon forget. But don’t stop there! It’d be a form of blasphemy if we don’t steer you in the right direction for the most important meal of the day: dessert. We suggest you make a special trip to Dream Makers bakery to keep some goodies on hand at your top-notch vacation rental kitchen. You’ll be grateful you did when the sun goes down, you’re snuggled up next to the fire, and you suddenly have a huge craving for something sweet. Three words: Vermont Maple Donut.
But That’s Not All
Now that we’ve established food is important, we’re happy to announce that Killington still has so much more to offer. Outdoor recreation is bumping all year long in this vast outdoor playground that people travel from all over the east coast to enjoy. If you’re visiting in the winter, skiing and snowboarding are the obvious recreational choices when there are two large Vermont ski resorts in the area, but that’s just the beginning of fun activities Killington has to offer. Another popular winter sport on the mountain is snow tubing, an activity everyone can enjoy at the same time with multi-lane slopes and lift-assistance. Truth be told, the hot chocolate, clever cocktails, and crackling fire at the nearby lodge can majorly optimize the experience as well. But there’s still so much more. Slap on some snowshoes or cross-country skis for a slower paced exploration of the mountain or head to town to ice skate. Or if you’re looking for something a little more fast paced, rent so snowmobiles and really cover some distance on the trails.
If you’re visiting in the summer months, breathe in the clean alpine air while you drink in the unobstructed mountain views on the gondola ride to the top of the peak or better yet, bring your mountain bike and ride it down the mountain once you get to the top. With the snow melted off, in comes a blooming opportunity for summer recreation, including endless mountain bike and hiking trails. If you need to cool off, head to one of the local water spots for some R&R on the beach or take out a boat for a day on the water.
