The menu may not be huge at Countryman’s Pleasure but it more than makes up for it with the incredible flavor of each entrée. Patrons can enjoy a variety of starters including potato pancakes, dumplings, house-made pretzels, and lump crab cakes. Traditional entrees get their inspiration from Eastern Europe and include chicken cordon bleu, sauerbraten, veal schnitzel Holstein, and more. Chef-inspired dishes also include the classic sirloin steak cooked to order and roasted vegetable spaetzli. Even if you have not tried Bavarian food before, you will find something on the menu to love.

Now that we’ve established food is important, we’re happy to announce that Killington still has so much more to offer. Outdoor recreation is bumping all year long in this vast outdoor playground that people travel from all over the east coast to enjoy. If you’re visiting in the winter, skiing and snowboarding are the obvious recreational choices when there are two large Vermont ski resorts in the area, but that’s just the beginning of fun activities Killington has to offer. Another popular winter sport on the mountain is snow tubing, an activity everyone can enjoy at the same time with multi-lane slopes and lift-assistance. Truth be told, the hot chocolate, clever cocktails, and crackling fire at the nearby lodge can majorly optimize the experience as well. But there’s still so much more. Slap on some snowshoes or cross-country skis for a slower paced exploration of the mountain or head to town to ice skate. Or if you’re looking for something a little more fast paced, rent so snowmobiles and really cover some distance on the trails.
If you’re visiting in the summer months, breathe in the clean alpine air while you drink in the unobstructed mountain views on the gondola ride to the top of the peak or better yet, bring your mountain bike and ride it down the mountain once you get to the top. With the snow melted off, in comes a blooming opportunity for summer recreation, including endless mountain bike and hiking trails. If you need to cool off, head to one of the local water spots for some R&R on the beach or take out a boat for a day on the water.
