Burlington Segways

HomeKillington ActivitiesBurlington Segways

For an interesting day trip from the Killington area, tour Burlington, Vermont’s Queen City, on a Burlington Segways Personal Transporter (PT). These self-balancing two-wheeled machines will allow you to cover five times the distance (6 or 7 miles) touring the city while being entertained with a historical narrative delivered by radio as you roll along. It’s fun. It’s intuitive. It’s easy to learn. And it’s a great way to see Vermont’s Queen City.

No Prior Experience Necessary

The staff at Burlington Segways will train you to operate the Segway. They have taught over 8,000 people to ride Segways in the past 7 years. Their training includes a 10 minute video and hands-on individual training in their parking lot until everyone feels comfortable operating their Segway. That usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. Then it’s off on a tour of the City.

Three Tour Options

Their one hour tour is a full hour on the Segway PT on the Burlington waterfront, mostly on their world famous bike path with stunning views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains across the lake in upstate New York. The tour includes an interesting narrative delivered by radio as you roll along explaining how the Burlington waterfront was magically transformed from an ugly industrial wasteland to the beautiful park and bike path we enjoy today. $68 per person.

Their two-hour tour is a full two hours on the Segway PT with the first hour on the waterfront and the second hour visiting the Church Street Marketplace, the heart of downtown, and the University of Vermont campus. $98 per person.

They also offer a private two-hour tour to wherever you want to go on a Segway PT in Burlington for $125 per person.

Electric Bikes

Electric bikes are great for the 10-mile ride on a world-class bike path out to the Causeway, an old abandoned rail line built right out into Lake Champlain in 1901.  This trail was named to the Rails-To-Trails Hall of Fame in 2010.  Take a Segway tour in the morning and an electric bike out to the causeway in the afternoon and make a day of it.
