The Killington World Cup 2017
The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup was launched in 1966 by a group of ski racing friends. The next year, it was backed by International Ski Federation president Marc Hodler and became an official FIS event. The first World Cup ski race was held in Germany in 1967. Since there, it’s been held annually.
While not much information has been released about the 2017 Audi FIS Ski World Cup (or Killington World Cup, as it’s referred to by locals), it’s expected to be similar to the 2016 competition. The 2016 Cup included women’s giant slalom and slalom races, which involve skiing between poles or gates. In the “giant slalom” event, the gates are spaced more closely than the regular event. Only the best of the best are able to compete, let alone finish. It’s sure to be an incredible sight!
